The W&M Global Film Festival, in partnership with W&M Libraries and the Reeder Media Center, is proud to host the 17th Annual 24 Speed competition!
In light of the ongoing pandemic, this year’s competition will not be team-based or in-person. Instead, 24 Speed 2021 is taking on the form of a solo editing challenge, with all footage provided to compete. As always, players will race against the clock to deliver a short film in under 24 hours, with awards going to the top films as judged by a jury of W&M faculty, alumni, and community members.
The 2021 contest will kick off online at 5:30 PM on Friday, March 19. To sign up, current students and alumni should visit the main 24 Speed website to check out further details on this year’s event and register to compete.
The 24 Speed films will be screened in two free events, one for the shorts created by current W&M students, and another for those created by alumni.
The student screening will take place at 8:00 PM on Saturday, March 27 at the AMPitheatre festival venue. More details on that event are available here.
The alumni screening will be a live online event, Saturday March 27 at 10:00 PM: check it out as part of our virtual program.
Past 24 Speed short films are available for viewing on the W&M Libraries YouTube channel.
